I thought I would share one of my basket cases, not really but a non-runner, found a petcock for the tank , cleaned the carby done a compression test =130psi, a few kicks and RUNNING! The only issue is that the clutch seams to engage very abruptly in the last 1/4 of lever travel, is that normal, any way to improve the clutch action. Thanks
David is on the money but the clutch basket in an RL is so big that I have never seen one that needs filing. The clutch actuator is most likely the culprit and or the bend in the middle twin pushrods! Like David said a TM 250 or 1976 TS 250 A clutch cover is the best set-up as they go straight on. The TS 250 B onwards clutch cover is round at the front and will not fit so pay attention to the pointy bit at the front when checking parts. Also some people only want to sell the cover but you will need the hard washer, flat bearing and pressure plate along with the rack. The pressure plate is identical except for the hole in the centre so you can bore yours to suit. Early model PE 250 and I think PE 400 uses the same flat bearing, washer and rack if you get a cover on its own, the clutch basket is different. Your cables are excessively long and you will be loosing feel, a TS 185 ER clutch cable will fit and Genuine cables are quite good, don't but a copy as the quality is what you would expect! There are different length actuator arms as seen in photo, the longest one that will fit is the best in my humble opinion.

After ten heat cycles at 25:1 fuel:oil to run in the rings and bore, I rode a great fun CQTC trial at the Blockspot, Rosedale last Sunday and it ran like a dream. Quiet piston, no detonation, strong power, super smooth and clean running right down to where you can feel individual power pulses. I love it. Next stage is to fit the Eirian Davies airbox and the (straight) RD400 intake connector. Photos by Pat van Heerden. Thanks Pat

That would be an interesting Trials bike that 250 Greg. My maths must be wrong though. To me it seems as though it would be close to a 1,000 cc rather that a 250cc! Should have lots of torque I think!

I just trimmed the beads on another new 4.00x18 Michelin X11 and plan to fit it to my 210cc TY175 this afternoon. This time I took photos that show one bead done and one bead yet to do to better show the difference.

I was amazed to read the date code and find that this IRC rear tyre that came off yesterday was 12 years old. It was still very floppy and the rubber compound in the knobs was still soft but it had lots of cracks across the carcass between the rows of knobs and in both sidewalls. I was worried that it might fall apart if I kept using it. I changed the front tyre too while I was on a roll and it was a 10 year old Michelin.

Border closures delayed the return of Peter Paice's 360cc TY250D by about two years but the wait should soon be over. The plan is to meet up at the Denman Twinshock Titles in two weeks time.
Saw an Old RL250 tucked away under a House today. Thought It might have been my old one, But Apparently some Old 'MOO MOO' owns it, and probably wont part with it.........

As it turns out, a Mate of a Mate grabbed this out of the boot of a car on its way to the scrappy. So I am now wondering how may collectables get scrapped only to be made into fine China products?
