Just sharing where I am up to with the :italjet: hand catapult, after snapping the clutch cable after the first lap at Denman, I have had a bit of a rethink. So now I have gone away from the "acropolis1989" set up:

and hand fabricated an extension to the clutch arm along with a quicker way to adjust the clutch and a new cable:

This works better and Donna can now pull the clutch in but wanting even less effort I decided to back off the pressure plate preload:

In other words, the standard preload was enough to snap 2 cables, (during competition of course) so I backed the preload off 1.4 mm. This was easier again but clutch slipped in higher gears! Then I tried 1.2 mm and this gave me the Goldilocks moment! Happy Days :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

That clutch arm extension was a very common mod back in the day Greg. I`ll be working on a SWM Jumbo very soon and the clutch linkage they have under the tank works very well. Almost lighter than my 199B!

Well Greg ... I see you have finally realised that even an "Acropolis 1989" set up will one day lose it's appeal ... and the need for a practical approach becomes more important.

That :italjet: feather 325 felt lovely to ride down at Denman Greg. It is a credit to you that it goes so well.
I would love to be able to test ride it and a well set-up late model 325 :bultaco: back to back to compare them.

The pressure plate is made up of pressed sheetmetal spot welded together.

It has the acropolis1989 set up. Looks similar to yours but has aloooominium mudguards and 66W is stamped in the cases.

Seeing that photo is excellent news Greg. Well done.
I especially like the patina on the tank.
It can't be my old one because that one is in very good original condition :D
It does bring back great memories of riding in trials in Trailbike class, riding to QUT along the South East freeway, riding at the powerlines on the way to Capalaba and riding up Honda Hill somewhere out past Ferny Grove.

Finally I got one of your obscure jokes!!!!! 66W indeed :shock: #-o :D
