What fun it is playing around with TYs. And what a great haul!
Yes I can see a few odd things on your bike Greg, but I'm going wait and see if other people have seen them before answering.

It's been a while with no-one else acting on Greg's TY250B weird parts challenge.
I'm planning to mention one non-TY250B part at a time.
Today's part is the cylinder head. I have no idea what it's off but it's not a TY250 head.

OK today's Greg Harding TY250B extraneous part bingo is the magneto flywheel. The one on it looks a lot like a TY175 flywheel

Looks like I'm the only one playing.
Not many more to go now.
Today's non-TY250B part is the fuel tank which is TY250A

As always David, your TY knowledge is astounding! The "A" model tank is just what I wanted as I am riding my "A" model at the moment and I am really enjoying it.


A few of you may remember this one as Donna rode it at SHATTER (second from left) a few years back:

The one that I rode (middle) was the one that I rode for the 1970s themed Logan River Trials Club 35th anniversary.

My motivation for riding the other one was to compete at the Easter Trial celebrating 50 years of Logan River. It has been parked up for a while as the tank annoys me every time I look at it.

All good until you look ate the other side:

Looking underneath is no fun either as it had previously been pressurised with compressed air enough to reduce the tunnel:

The SLIMLINE one (dints both sides) is actually really good to use and sloshes less:

It was extremely clean inside as almost no rust came out with the magnetic drive bits, Happy Days!

I've been wanting to repaint this Majesty frame since 2007.
I had hurriedly painted it yellow so I could assemble the kit and have a ride. I didn't like the shade of yellow that I used and the colour shows up every scrape. I only chose yellow because yellow was the colour that Majesty frames were painted when they came out in 1979 and 1980.
This time, I took my time doing it and used metallic charcoal epoxy enamel and I like the look.
While it was still a bare frame I took these side-by side photos with a TY250 frame in case there are any Yamaha TY trainspotters out there who wondered about the differences in the frames.

I figured someone might want to know if there was a difference in the weights of the frames.
Until I weighed them, I suspected the Majesty frame was heavier, because to me, it looks heavier.
I wuz wrong but there's not much in it.

After Kurt pointed out the neglected-looking exhaust header on my Majesty, I decided to do something about some of the things that looked pretty shabby on the bike, in preparation for the Aussie Titles.
I already posted the frame repaint photos and because I think the colour looks so nice, have since decided to do the fuel tank, exhaust heat shield and left side cover in the same colour as the frame. From photos of recently redecorated bikes overseas, it seems to be trendy (and visually pleasing) to paint the tank and other bits on twinshock trials bikes the same colour as the frame. However I am not motivated to include the wheel rims and hubs in the trendiness, because coloured rims are so easily scratched.
My only concern with this proposal is that it was my idea to do it, not my wife's idea. I have some riding mates who have an eye for what looks good, but Wendy has been my main style counsel for motorbike decoration for many years, and when I outlined my idea, there was only silence, and when Wendy does silence, it either means "I'm thinking" or "think again, David".
The triple clamps and fork sliders had not seen any cosmetic attention since the bike was made in 1977, so I figured while the bike is in pieces, it was time for them to look pretty too.
The "before" fork slider has had the remnants of the original clear coating removed by paint stripper. There wasn't much clear coating to be removed after 48 years.
The "after" fork slider has had the raised edges of rock gouges filed down, corrosion removed by wet sanding and Scotchbrite pads, then some buffing wheel and hand polishing.
Yes that's a cloth nappy. They are great rags and are a good colour for backgrounding shiny things in photos. That's my last one and my kids are 26 and 24.

I was confined to the workshop for a few hours today and did more cleaning up of shiny bits

I've had this lightweight steering stem for many years and finally had an opportunity to fit it while redecorating my Majesty.
