Hello all. David I can`t imagine myself making a comment like that. I must have been someone disguising themselves as me. Ask Cedric. FM350, last year I won the twinshock class in the Queensland Moto Trials Series and came second in the Queensland Championships (Twinshock Class) on a 199B Sherpa T wich has a 151 motor in it so they aren`t as uncompetitive as you think. Graham.

Sounds like you had some good rides.........maybe if you had been on a Fantic they would have been even better................lol

Mark K, it looks like an Australia Day rest to me as well, but definitely testament to the enthusiasm of our Central Queensland friends, I am glad our summers down here aren't as severe.

FM350, you are making me more determined to get my Fantic Basket Case going, still have some higher priorities though.

David, likewise in regards to my Montesa 349.

The numbers on the frame are B93, which when I looked it up makes it a Mark 6 Lobito (my Spanish is not good, think Lobito means walking frame!) To me ,the tripple clamps, forks which are excellent and the wheels will fit my M49.

Hello Greg. It is a mk 6 Lobito 175 which is a 1972/73 model. The forks should be exactly the same as the Sherpa T ones so a very good score. I could not get my Sherpa going in time for the first WDTC club day so I have had to borrow a 199A which is the 1979 blue tank one. But it is stock standard which is really strange for me as mine is not. And the brake and gearstick are on the wrong side so that will be fun! Graham.

I think you might find a TS Fantic is far more capable than any of the old Spanish or Jap bikes, but parts are probably going to be difficult it Aus, so if you can find one it might be worth getting hold of a cheap mono as a donor bike?

If you are thinking about using the Lobito frame there is a suitable quote that might apply
"I'd rather have a frontal lobotomy, than a Lobito in front of me"
Those wheels and forks look terrific and the front hub even looks like the same type as was on the M49

TY175JC registered in Brisbane.

Well its been a while since I have been on the forum but David Lahey suggested I put my old TY175JC basket case in with the before and after version.

I spent about 18 months restoring the JC chasing quite a few bits here in Aus and worldwide plus Evilbay.

It started originally as a blue bitsa with this noisy aftermarket type muffler, pod filter, aluminium exhaust heat shield and rear mudguard which was a trail front mudguard.




I then replaced the majority of the bolts with hi tensile allen bolts, new Sammy Miller rear Betor shocks, new Sammy Miller seat, new cables, grips, levers, tyres, horn, mirrors, taillight with flap, chain and sprockets. Then came the finding of the original battery box, heat shield, switching gear, airbox, sidecover, chainguard, headlight and JC muffler. The original wiring was okay with new connectors put on some areas. Original JC blinkers were unavailable so I put on DT blinkers instead. The speedo is a TY250? mounted higher up on the steering head with a longer DT speedo cable. The rear guard is half original JC found at a swapmeet and half a front trailbike front guard held together by an aluminiun strip bolted together and covered up by the toolbag. I put a DT175G speedo cable guide on the front fork to stop the movement of the cable as the original guide was unavailable. The tank is from another of my TY's until I get the original redone.

It goes well with a small amount of piston slap. The biggest problem I found was with the wiring. I could not find any wiring diagrams and I thought I had one from one of my manuals till a friend gave me the correct wiring diagram. If anyone needs a copy email me and I will send you a copy.
I enjoy this bike and it will give me heaps of pleasure.

Graham, compared the forks today and they are identical! You have me confused about the brake pedal on the wong side, don't you mean the right side?

FM350, my fantic is a 301 and is all there, just waiting for me.

David, I actually prefer the third option of a bottle in front of me! Yes both hubs and back brakes are the same, front brake backing plate is not. M49 on left.

What I would real like is a copy of your wiring diagram. Like you its very hard to find one. I can help you out with identifying some genuine parts to replace the DT ones if you want.
