Hello Greg. I liked the extras, dents and scratches. And whats this modifying the foot pegs. There is nothing wrong with stock standard 36 year old Yamaha footpegs is there. The standard ones have a nice droop to them. Graham.

I'm sure there is nothing wrong with original ones if your feet are only 2 inches wide and you weigh less than 6 stone. Sadly, somehow, that doesn't seem to apply to me. That's why I reckon "Gregs Pegs" are great.

Hi everyone,
Yes I wondered about the 175BHP too like Don Duck. I must agree with you too Mark K about "Greg's Pegs" as I have a set for EVERY twin shock bike I have, That is my TL125, Ossa MAR, KT250, TY175 and even the TY80!!! (which is up for sale - the one Brock was riding).

Graham you should try some of Greg's pegs, cause you never know when you might need them!!! ie in the mud......

I assume Greg that this sale is to fund your green Japanese twin shock masters attack project!!

Hello all. Mark, I was sure your feet are under two inches wide and I thought your weight was under six stone. Chippy, I am one of those strange people who don`t even sharpen my stock footpegs. Gumboots get really good traction on everything. Graham.

This is a real basket case right here...

RL250 picked up mainly for the tank (which is actually fairly bad) and a mint magneto cover, plus it still had a lot of good parts on it too.

Has been sitting outside for years by the look and the frame and many oher parts are too far gone for resto, still turns over though!

Looks like it was an ex competition bike (dealer stickers on the tank, frame strengthening welds in spots) relegated to farm duties for many, many years...then partially stripped and forgotten about!!!

Hi Everyone,

Chippy, yes I had the TY up for sale to fund my KT 250 preparation to be ready for Connondale! However it has not met reserve and I am too emotionally attached to sell it for less. Will have to think of something else, not sure yet.

i-moto, your RL is fairly original, did you get all the small parts with it or just what is in the photo? I bought a TY250 A model in worse condition with a similar story. Assuming that you have another RL as you said you mainly wanted the tank, is the other one in better condition and do you need any parts to get one complete or going? How many teeth and what pitch on the rear sprocket and would you part with it?

In breaking news, I am no longer the only licenced trials rider in Coffs Harbour as Donna has just received her MT licence today!

Hi Greg,

I only got what was in the photo, so quite a bit is missing...and lots of what is there is really rusty!!

This is my other RL, for now I'm not going down the full resto path as funds and time don't permit, but it's stripped for a mechanical freshen up. Cosmetically I would like it to look better that this  but it's far from essential!

Not really missing much at this stage to do what I want - just a sprocket cover, better (new) rear shocks, a decent gear lever and a few eBay items.

The sprocket shown in the other bike is absolutely cactus - I've never seen one so worn in my life! Has no spacer so must be an old one. Happy to part with anything I don't need though if you're after something.

What sort of gearing is appropriate on these things? I remember the below bike having fairly tall gearing when I first got it, and I would like to get something shorter. Haven't counted the teeth on it but it has the spacer and a flat sprocket.

Hi Everyone,

i-moto, my loan RL has 50T and 11T, I usually aim for a 4.5:1 to 5:1 final drive ratio on most bikes as it suits me. The original rear sprocket is dished, pretty much the same as other bikes of that era. Your photos did not come out, would like to have a look? I do have an original sprocket cover and need to make a copy for Chippy so I will make a template as I go, could make one for you as well if you like?

The TL 250 loan bike has performed fairly well, rode at the SQTA Jurassic trial division 3 last weekend and now MTCQ's Easter trial in Post Classic. Two completely different trials with different ideals, very impressed with both and had a great time. SQTA has an excellent venue and great section setters, likewise at MTCQ who always give great diversity and challenging sections.

At the Easter Trial I had a little drama and only just made machinery examination with the Honda starting and then dying, played with timing, point gap and even pulled the float bowl off to check needle and seat all to no avail. Finally remembered that I had taped off the air intake when we washed it last, DOH! Removed the tape and rode in with a minute or 2 to spare! The TL is quite heavy, when it is heading in any direction, it is very hard to change course and when falling, it dives like a Russian Submarine. Cannot remember ever being so tired after a trial as I was after the first day with still another day to go, a long rest and time to reflect made me have a rethink. Anticipating what is going to happen is the trick that saw me lose a lot less points on the second day. Think I lost some weight as well because whenever I got out of the car on the way home, my pants would fall down!

Hello all. Greg, I really could not resist. It is not surprising that you lost a few kilos over the weekend riding that ocean liner anchor. I know you beat me but it is one of the few occasions that my Sherpa was lighter than someone elses bike. It does not happen very often. Very good ride by the way. Graham.
