Nice to see so many interesting oldies in one place.
Greg, I have been testing the water by email to see how much interest there is in the SE Qld area to start a Twinshock/ Classic trials club over the last few weeks and have put together a group of people that I thought might be interested. I am still overseas at the moment but returning to Aus mid October and there are a few email addresses that I didn't have, yours included, to go in the circulation.
Briefly, I don't want to be the leader/ president of a new club but would be a keen and enthusiastic team member to help organise some events during the season specifically for TS and Classic bikes. Denman have their events and SE Qld have a semi exclusive TS & C event at Conondale, there's Brooweena and now there is another in the Gladstone area coming on board but overall there is very little to enter in the way of proper TS & Classic events with suitable sections without travelling hundreds of Kms.
I'm not trying to undermine the good work done by the existing clubs up here but talking to a number of like minded guys I feel there could be a niche for a TS & Classic trials club in this part of SE Qld.
If anyone would like to be included in the messages I have put out so far drop me an email at
[email protected] and I will add them into the group, alternatively anyone can drop me an email with their thoughts on a new club.
By the way, I will be bringing two more Cubs back from the UK and I have a heavyweight trials project on the go also.
Cheers

Hi Everyone,
Roger, after much consideration and perhaps misguided thoughts, I have decided to share those thoughts. We don't have a club here in Coffs Harbour, just friends getting together to ride bikes no matter how old they are. You will have to come when back in AUS?
Donna and I are members of both L.R.M.T.C and SQTA and ride Trials with W.D.T.C, M.T.C.Q and Coonabarabran Clubs and very much enjoy the social aspects of all the Clubs, the Competition is a secondary thing. Yes secondary as unfortunately competition can bring out the worst in people. We have only ever had good experiences in Queensland and have always felt like locals, so Coffs Harbour may as well be as you suggest in the Sunshine State!
Have you considered focussing on social events where Gentlemen and hopefully Ladies get together to enjoy Old Bikes, compare notes, swap parts and help each other? W.D.T.C hold a Rolling Display Class at Conondale, an excellent idea in my opinion.
Alternately, have you considered supporting existing Club or Clubs specialising in old bikes? Knowing you were heavily involved in L.R.M.T.C which is the oldest Club in Queensland and in my opinion would benefit greatly from a Classic and Post Classic Event.
Another option has been discussed already around the pre-event Bonfire at SQTA's Jeff Gough Memorial Trial:
That is to leave the sections set up after one of their Trials and hold an Old Bike Trial the following weekend. This is not my idea, but a very good one for several reasons!
A) All sections would have already been crash tested and potential hazards exposed and worn in addressing Section severity problems!
B) Because the Club is Unaffiliated, bike eligibility is not an issue. Ride what you want!
C) Competition is reduced, because no Sheep Stations are up for grabs (not even Trophies)!
D) Diversity in Machines being ridden!
E) Everyone has a choice of riding Divisions for every skill level!
F) Fun! Can't emphasize this enough!
HARDWOOD, Excellent for building Clubs!
