Hi guys Greg here form coffs harbour area ,first real bike was a ty 80 in vico at around 1977 ,always liked trailsy trialsy type riding all my life, trials bikes owned ,ty 80 ,monty 247 cota trail seat version late 70s mod , monty 349 80s mod ,ty 175 red tank, ,never been without a bike of some sort in the shed ,current bikes 1991 xl 185 s owned for 14 years road legal ,drz 400 2010 owned for 2 years road legal ,lastest bike to the collection ty 175b bought yesterday she looks quite sound mech wise needs guards neat bike ,cheers great looking site ,ps how do I add an avatar pic ,regards greg

Great photo Greg. It looks like a big-wheel TY80 you are reminiscing about. There are a few of those around here still because Queensland Alumina used to have them as on-site transport at the time.

your bike ID number is for TY175C. TY175B model would be 525-00xxxx

thanks David ,what year would you say it is ,there is no rego compliance plate ,some 175w were able to be road regoed right ? got those horrid 30 year old nobbys off it yesterday and a freash set of wheel bearings and the brakes got a buff and freshen up she feels nice ,just wondering what would be a good all round cog set up ? the back is 48 havnet checked front yet ,any tips would be great thanks guys

Ty175C is 1976 year model. Same mechanically as B (1975) model, but carby was not painted on C model, and the graphics were orange and white where B model was yellow and white. 1976 is the first year of bikes having ADR compliance plates for rego, which is why they brought out the Ty175JC with all the road going gear. Nowadays the rules for rego are probably different. I don't know - haven't tried to rego a trials bike for many years - they are terrible to ride on the road. If you are road riding 15 front 51 rear 428 chain was what I used in 1976 to ride to Uni on the south-east freeway in Brisbane tapped out at max RPM. Trials riding 12 front 51 rear 428 chain. If you are sticking to the 48 rear sprocket then 14 for the road.
