Hi

Please can someone confirm where to fit the gear locating clip on a TY175?

1) On the groove in the kick starter shaft

2) or on the end of the shaft

Plus which way does the bent part face toward the main engine casing or toward the kick starter?

The diagram attached should help in the groove, loose and faces which way?

Cheers

Rupert

Been a while but pretty certain the clip at number 6 fits onto the gear at number 5. When the shaft is installed into case the friction clip locates into case.

the purpose of that clip is to create just enough drag so that when the kickstart shaft is initially rotated by the kickstart lever, that gear does not rotate. This causes the gear to slide along the helix until it meshes with the idler gear. At the same time that it reaches full mesh with the idler gear, the kickstart gear reaches the end of the helix and rotates with the kickstart shaft
