Dunlop D803 Tyres

Would like to get your opinions on the Dunlop D803 tyres?
I am only just starting out in trials and have bought a 96' Beta Techno with these on it. They are quite old ( 5yrs? ) so was wondering if it was worth me getting some new tyres, the Dunlops? or am I just better off learning on what I have?

It depends on what YOU want.
New tyres give learner riders more confidence in slippery conditions
Very old tyres (like 10 years) can fall apart
5 years old is not extreme
Some people want every advantage they can get to minimise points
Some people want their bike to work as well as possible because of the riding pleasure aspect
Even old tyres grip well on grippy dirt and rock
New tyres stay soft for 2-3 years if you keep them in the dark and cool between rides
Some riders and riding conditions can wear out a rear tyre in one weekend
New tyres are a lot of $$ to some people and nothing to others
If you are going to ride your Techno a lot you will soon wear the rear out and the decision will become easier
Fronts wear out very slowly compared with rears and are commonly replaced because they have gone hard
It is the edges that do the work, not the height of the knobs
People commonly replace one tyre and not both, because the rears wear out much faster
Turning the rear is commonplace to get a better edge on the drive side of the knobs
The drive edges of the knobs usually round off faster than the braking edges on the rear
You only live once

Dunlops are successfully used at the highest level of competition, as are Michelins

They seem OK, soft wise, to touch. The fronts seem a little harder, but in saying that, once I get out there playing, I should just suck it and see ( as they say ).
I will most likely wear them out while I'm trying to balance on the bike .

Ian,
As you said your a newbie.
Make sure you run close to 4 psi Rear & 6 psi Front.
Unless your 100 kg plus then up them a little.
