Yamaha TY engine /Frame numbers

Hi Folks
Can anyone tell me the most accurate source of information to give me dates and bike colours etc etc for my new, growing collection of TY's.
I'm getting conflicting info from different sources and there are people on this website that have been digging for these details longer than I have.
