Hi all,

I have two small dents (thumb presses) on the Ali fuel tank of GGG’s Rookie. Now the question is…does anyone know how to get them out?
They are both under the thick plastic decal (which I am going to relpace, so if I could just get them flat (rather than convex) it would be OK.

Your assistance would be appreciated.

It's been a very long time since I seen a steel tank..

My grandfather used to do up pre 1975 bikes and he used to know a fella that used compressed air to re-shape the tanks when they were damaged.. There might still be people arround that know how this is done?

Air can work but it can be very risky and a little too much can turn a slightly damaged tank into a throw away

Sometimes aspecially bent lever through the filler can be used to pop small dents out but becareful not to damage the filler neck or thread.

Try someone who does paintless dent removal on cars.

Not for fuel tanks, but cars.. I have used (the?) "Dent Master" to remove small parking dings in my car doors.

Bloody amazing... he removed the fuel flap and inserted essentially a long piece of bent steel rod. Then with some careful pushing and levering the dent literally just disappeared before my eyes.

He even removed 2 dents I hadn't even see!
$60 a panel, well worth the dollars.

I reckon you could give it a go, if you had some pretty solid bar that you could work with (ie. need a handle on it so you can control it). A couple of bends, pick a suitable pivot point, and you could probably get rid of most of it.

It`s an alloy tank Neo. Much easier to work than steel.
