Of the big brands sold in VIC which of them has the best parts availability and support/service? In searching for a new bike this seems more relevant to me than the “which bike should I get” question as they all seem so close performance-wise.

Looking at:
Sherco
Beta
Vertigo
Gas Gas

Agree, choosing a bike because of support is important.

All those bike will have dealers in Melbourne. The other thing to consider is a lot of common parts are shared (for example braktec brakes are used on all but Beta).

I was nervous about this when I started but in the 3+ years i've been going I've either figured it out or people at Oakleigh MCC where I am a member have guided me in the right direction. In my time I've owned Vertigo/Sherco/Scorpa/Oset which include my kids bikes. All have been fine with no long wait time for parts whenever I have needed them. Also, I do a lot of online orders as well and tend to now have spares at home in advance of when I need them (e.g. levers, chain links, frame & fork guards). Over the phone help from dealers has also been very useful.

In short, there is no one brand you listed that I would steer away from because of lack of support. If you are joining a club, have a chat with the members and see what is popular and why.
