Converting Thump to a purr?

Hi All,
Last week we had my 15 year old nephew at our place for a few days riding. It was a real pleasure to see how he took to Trials and how quickly he learnt to ride the rocks. But on his last day, he announced, that he was going to buy a Thumpster when he gets back to Melbourne.
Some what shocked, I tried to talk him round (with all the usual advantages) and to save a bit more money and go for a Trials bike, but I had no luck.
Even his mum (my sister), was telling him, she's prefer him to ride a trials bike.
So my question is....How do I convert a Thumpster buyer to a Trials Bike buyer?
What could I have done, or said, that could have been more convincing?...I can't help feeling I've let him down some how....
Best of balance.

he will soon realise when the thumpster wrecks his back, and when it falls apart after every ride.
I have two thumpstars (which i dont ride anymore).
They have very little suspension travel, the constant shocks going up your spine through the seat can be pretty mean , put me off my feet for 2 days straight.

Just break his legs and arms (he will on one of them anyway). By the time he recovers he might be wise enough to understand the difference!
If that doesn't work tell him about the chicks he will get when he can show off riding with no front forks.....that's sure to work
(Hey restoramaz... are you leaping the TY between water tanks yet after seeing the DVD????)

I assume you plied him with multiple trials DVD viewings. If eg; the Duluth 2005 2 DVD set doesn't get him hungry for the sport then..

trials gets you more chicks - clearly you have bigger cojones
trials bikes have more power than a thumpstar and are not made in china
thumpstars only have little wheels

true, they have very small wheels, and the slightest ruts in the trails can seem scary on such a small bike.
But they do go fairly well for the cost.Mine were $1100 each, with 3 months waranty.125 four strokes, they go realy good on the trails.
The thumpstar was why i got back into bikes,i hadnt riden a motor bike since 1998,and a mate of mine bought a couple of them, and took me out on them for the day.
made me remember how good motor bikes are,so i bought some, then realised i liked climbing up the rough stuff the most, and made the decision that i would buy a trials bike.So if it wasnt for those thumpstars i wouldnt have the ty or the scorpa
heres a pic of my brother on one of my thumpstars at a spot in menai called "yamaha hill" a popular trials spot well know to trials riders since the 70s. He gets up and down it no problem!
