Heads up everyone, If the situation is as grim as Trevor says [and I tend to believe him] then action is needed
I ride with the Denman club and I will speak forthwith to Tony Paine and other senior club members and propose Denman holds an open
We[in the DMCC] tend to operate in isolation because we are away from Sydney, and because we are weird old men on real old bikes
but if it will help I will have a go
. We do offer a ten round competition [with one two day event] to all post classic and pre 70 riders. Our events usually have observers, who we cannot possibly thank enough.
We work at promoting our niche, and encourage riders to beg borrow or buy a pre 86 twinshock bike, and join in the fun.

Trials in NSW is not dying, although it's not as healthy as it once was.
The Trials Club of Canberra open Trials in 2005 and 2006 attracted more competitors than we ever have.
We also averaged over 40 competitors at our Club Trials.
If any of you never get to ride legally at Menai again, it won't be because Bob McGlinchy didn't try his hardest. He's up against political argument that most of you don't know exists.
Those of you that ride there illegally, just because you can, certainly don't help the situation. Unfortunately, until you're a Trial organiser, you probably aren't aware of that either.

Quote:while there have been plenty of Club Trials run in the Sydney Wollongong area, I believe that for the past ten years not one of them has had Observers. Numerous riders are members of all five clubs, more are members of two or three. From a riders perspective this is brilliant. They can rock up to Club trials every couple of weeks nearly all year round. They don’t have to “do” anything, just ride. For individuals this is short term Utopia, for Moto-Trials this is long term extinction.:
Sorry i must have read that wrong.I've been and watched a couple of BWP trials out at Menai and Bob McGlinchy sure does work hard.If he is having a problem with political argument and getting access to Menai maybe he could post here and tell us who to write to about helping out.I am going to start by firing off a letter to my local state member(politician)who i think takes in Menai about access for trials events to Menai and all the benefits it brings in.With a state election in 2 months? if there ever going to listen nows the time.

Open trial at Denman.?? Competitors NEEDED!!
I have spoken to Tony Paine [our club presdente ] and apparantly we would need to attract enough competitors to justify the cost of running an open/NSW Twinshock Title? Our club holds a two day event at Sandy Hollow over the June long weekend. This would be perhaps the best opportunity for an open?
People would have time to travel and be rewarded with two full days of twinshock madness!
To even advance the idea further within our club, I need people to make contact with me or Tony we may be able to determine a rough idea of interest in such an event .
Then maybe we can run an open Contact:

Everyone is a part of the solution
Listen everyone....
The wise (old?) wizard of OZ (TRIALS) has spoken.
It is time for each of us to stop our egotistic and narcissistic navel gazing and consider the fact that each and every one of us is a part of the (whole) Trials scene.
If WE want Trials to continue, then WE need to do our utmost to develop and promote it.
Each of us can go for a ride on our own and come away with a "feel good" short term euphoria. However, to improve the sport of trials riding, WE need to work collectively and collaboratly to achieve OUR common goals.
Over to YOU for input and direction.
