Trials People Everywhere

I have now had my Beta 200 for one week. So far I have done a few hours around the back paddock jumping logs, tree roots, bricks and weaving in and out of my rain forest. On Wednesday afternoon I was invited to a persons home in town that has a backyard that goes down a very steep slope and onto the river flats. Three of use played there for two hours like school boys on an unoffical day off. There was a TLR 200, that Fantic 249 I was looking at buying and my Beta. We had a ball.

Today I spent most of the day at Brooweena with Steve Hall and Jeff Ekart, 2 Bultacos, TLR 250, TY 175, some other Yamaha I could not identify and of course my Beta. These fellows tried to teach me some tricks on sliding sidways down slopes while going round corners. I was very impressed with how Jeff and Steve could ride. The course they had me riding is great when your learning. They then took me to the superman stuff up the gully about 200 metres. I stayed away from that while Jeff demonstrated (twice) how it should be done. The TLR can jump brick walls.

I had a great day and am looking forward to the next time I am invited out.

What gets me is I have only owned the bike for seven days and I have not got off it and in the process I have met about 15 people that I didn't know existed. There have been phone calls to me at work nearly every day lining rides up. Like I said above there are very friendly Trials People everywhere around here and some excellent riding terrain to back it up.

Just trying to make you all jealous!!!!

Hey Starky,

I too had similar experiences when I first started Trials.
My advice is never stop riding those hills or making those contacts. Because 95% of Trials riders will wish you well and invite you to ride with them.

The love of Trials and the freedom to ride, pushed me to move out of a residential estate, to living on 101 acres, with over 10 acres of rocks and boulders. It's given me a life style I couldn't of dreamed of only 10 months ago.

Just trying to make you jealous too!!!! ..... But if you ever find yourself heading anywhere near Gosford NSW, just drop me a line and we'll go for a ride.....proved my point

Your place sounds pretty good. If I am ever in your neck of the woods I will take you up on that offer. I have only been throught the back blocks of Sydney once on my way home from Uni at Bathurst. We decided to come back up the coast instead of the usual inland route.

I have never actually been to Gosford, however you never know where I could pop up if this trials sport gets into the blood a little too much.

'fess up!!! You were run outta town by the neighbours because they got jack of you and your kids riding bikes through their garden beds and doing leaps off their steps and decks!

I too have been put on notice for leaving tyre tracks on the merbu (i tried to say it was someone else but the tread pattern gave me away) and now the wife has banned me from using the deck as a section. Mind you the rock garden is getting a hammering and I still have 200 acres to ride on as well.

It is great fun hey Starky!!!!

This weekend I had a friend come and ride with me that has recently sold his machine and is taking some time off to build a house and those mundane things young people do. Does it put you in your place when an X grade rider shows you what he can do on your new bike!!!!!

Things like saying.... Watch me ride up this hill without a dab!!!

Followed by him riding the same hill (200ft climb at about 30+deg incline) on the back wheel with one foot on the pegs on a new four stroke bike he has never seen before!!!!!!!

I rest my case...

I feel like a peasent with my 6 acres and you guys having so much more space. However mine is half covered in rain forest and has a permenant creek running through it and I have a domestic pumping licence for the creek. Also we have a bore that is drinking water quality that has never run dry and you can pump 4500 litres an hour from it all day and night. That is a real plus with the drought. Some of my land I have not walked over in the thirteen years I have owned it as it is too over grown. Our laws in Queensland forbid me to clear it without a permit which costs money. On the other hand why would I want to clear any of it. My tracks just have to fit where they can and the wildlife still gets to keep their home.

But 100 or 200 acres sounds like a home made paradise for trials. Yes, Neo and Scorps, I am now BLOODY JEALOUS!!!!!

Hmmm...... you're bringing back old memories BJ.
And it's true this was a factor. But only a small factor. Compared to beening told (by that 5%) that I couldn't ride my bike in the bush where they did..... sorry, but there is bad in all good.
But better than that. Sometimes, the most fantastic things come from bad situations.

Hey Starky. Got any info on what goes on in Maryborough? I have just bought a house there, and while I live in it I am only there every few weeks or so. My old man has moved to a new house in the area as well, and with him has brought two scorpas - an sy250 and an syf250. I know Jeff so maybe sometime we can all go for a ride sometime?

We are getting some stuff off the ground here. At the moment we have access to a great place at Brooweena and potentially we are going to build something at Action Park with the Dirt Track and DSMRA guys. We also seem to have a number of acerages that we can ride on close to town. These have various degrees of difficulty and some more natural settings then others.
