de-carbonise exuast ( actualy works )

Post by gordonmichaellee »

Firstly ( and most important ) I am not responsible when (WHEN ) you set yourself on fire, if you choose to use this method it is entirely at your own risk

step 1
get a very big bucket of water ( big enough to fit your head in )

Step 2
get a very short hair cut

step 3
get a fire extinguisher

step 4
get a hose

step 5
make sure the hose is connected

step 6
do it outside

step 7
make sure the fire brigade is on speed dial

step 8
get someone to have a video camera ready ( that way you can sell the footage to pay for a new exaust when none of the methods you have been told about seem to work).

OK now you are ready to start
I used aerosol degreaser, a blow tourch, a pencil butane burner and a compessor ( blow attachment).
I also wrapped the outside of the exaust with old towels and taped them on, then wet them, re wet them periodicaly this is to stop the alloy melting.
now put the exuast mounting point in a vice ( outside remember) not too hard but firm.

MAKE SURE THE EXIT OF THE EXAUST IS NOT POINTING AT YOUR FACE

Light the bottom of the carbon deposits and get it pretty damn hot, it will start to burn like a cigarette, then from a distance at first, blow with the compressor to increase the burn rate. periodicaly introduce some aerosol into the mix and you should have one hell of a flame coming out the other end ( literaly this is a basic jet engine ). Remember to re wet the towel. keep this up for about 20 mins until there are no more sparks coming out, then get the pecil butane burner to finish off any remaining bits.

you will know when you are finished because the water dripping off the towel will no longer be warm.

having had fun and being 70% sure you have done the job refit the exaust and give your bike a damn good thrashing ( warm it up first). you will see more sparks coming out of the exaust. ( best to get an observer to look for this, you just look where you are going.

any way best of luck, its a great fun afternoon, when else can you do this kind of thing and be telling the truth when you tell your wife you are working on the bike

FINAL STEP

think of a reason to tell your boss you have no eyebrows

Gordon....lee, that should be put in a folder marked 'Do not use' and mark it 'open at own risk' =D> .
That was real funny.
