Howdy Y'all,
HYPOTHETICALLY, could I build this machine to compete at the Aussie titles in post classic?
Majesty Framed TY250,
Paoli front suspension
TY250N wheels and Brakes
Mikuni VM26/Keihen PWK28 Carb
Magura Hydraulic clutch conversion
Works Performance Alloy bodied twinshocks
WES Exhaust systems
Disregarding "spirit of the competition", could I compete on this beastly machine?

I would have thought that as long as the PAOLI forks and the carby were pre-88 there would be no problems with eligibility with any of those those things.
High risk strategy though because it might be a bit embarassing if someone came along on a bog standard TY175 and thrashed the rider on the big dollar special.

Howdy Y'all,
Hi David, thought you might be the first in here. I have always thought that too, but I was looking in the GCR's, and couldn't see any reference to parts being "period items".
The clutch and the exhaust are new modern items, so why could not the forks and carby?
All just food for thought, but the rules seem to be "written" a lot less stringent than I remember.

Howdy Y'all,
It seems a bit clearer - I assume post-classic falls under the same rules as classics - need to keep the same major items as hubs, carbs, engine, frame etc.
So, what if I built:
Majesty Frame
TY250R motor (same externally as 1983 TY250N) - bored to 270/300cc
TY250R forks (same externally as 1983 TY250N)
TY250N wheels and Brakes (made before 86)
26mm Mikuni carb off a 1983 RM80
Magura Hydraulic clutch conversion
Works Performance Alloy bodied twinshocks
WES Exhaust system
Tubeless rear rim/tyre
fatbars
flame graphics
fluffy dice
How does those apples sound?
Or can I put twinshocks straight on a TY250N and dump the mono?
Or, buy a fantic 240?

In that case you would be at an even bigger risk of being shown up by someone on a standard TY175.

And while you are on that track, don't forget the titanium steering stem and the electronic ignition with an advance curve.

Howdy Y'all,
TITANIUM! Of course. How could I be so stupid. There was no mention of frames being of different material....
BTW, has anyone seen the titanium headers offered by S3? Tasty (but highly pointless).
In all seriousness though, what could be made out of legal, available bits to be the "Ultimate Championship Machine"?
And everyone don't worry, I am happy blinging my Scorpa, and not making a wild twinshocker....
Does anybody know where to get one of those factory honda twinshockers from the early 80's??.......

Hmmm, I think using mono bike parts is a bit unethical in the true spirit of twinshocks, but reading the UK site TC, some comment with regards to hybrid classic "specials" trials bike is now spreading into twinshocks too.
I think the lines are getting a blurred as the years go by to what is period, but its easy when defining a twinshock, as there weren't many in the late 80's anyway, so not much there to claim any real advantage.
