G'day from Gippsland

Post by kembro »

Hi All,

Well i'm about to take the plunge into Trials, more for fun than competition. I've got a steep acre in the back yard and understanding neighbors. Also living in the Strzelecki ranges, the opportunities are endless.

I started riding sheep ruts in high country NZ, since I was 7. Always loved trials, after watching our neighbor clearing a 44 gallon drum, on an old Honda 125 trials bike, they mustered on them.

I got back into dirt bikes about a year ago, buying a DRZS and riding a bit of dual sport.

I've got heaps of questions, but i'll put them in the right place.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and Safe New Year.

Cheers

Hi Klem,

Welcome to trials. I started my trials career over 30 years ago in the Strzelecki hills and around Thorpedale ( I used to live in Churchill). Gave it up in 1975 when kids and mortgages arrived and have just got back ito it after all these years and LOVING IT, as Maxwell Smart would say.

I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of the sport.

Thanks Richardr,

I'm flat out getting the bike funds together and looking for obstacles.

Looking forward to the challenge of learning a new discipline of riding. Last two were a Wheelman (now called the Bushpig) and Dirtsurfer's, which I was distributing. Reading as many 'how to's' as I can, and thinking about buying a DVD. Any recommendations for a trials training DVD?

Hoping to find a local trials group in Gippsland, after I get some skills. I'm in Mirboo North, nice spud country, alot like Thorpdale. Looking forward to seeing Qld some day, in winter  .

You may need to go a little further afield to get some decent rocks for practice. Glenmaggie, or up towards Licola etc.

Trials Training DVD's : the two Ryan Young ones would have to be the best, and most current. ("Trial's Training Techniques" and "Advanced Trial's Training Techniques".)They cover all the modern techniques in an informative and easy to understand manner, with heaps of examples from multiple camera angles.
We have them in stock, ready to post.

Tomorrow should be the big day. Still waiting on the Oset  , the couriers say it should be here tomorrow. I'll pick up the Beta as well.

I got some more cutting of the grass done, as well as pruned a nice 4ft drop off the veranda and some small logs trimmed up. See you on Sunday.
