End off

Hi All,

Has anyone managed to get the bottom end off of a late 06 Shock?
This is the shock with the grub screw, pictured.

I’m trying to fit a new, lighter spring but I can’t get the end off. I guess it’s held with a Locktight thread seal, or something. But I can’t be sure.

Anyone know how I can get this end off?

Best of balance.

Sorry...just to clarify this.

I mentioned the grub screw as a way of identifying the late (year) 06 Shock.

It's the bottom end I need off, not the Spring compression ring.

Sorry for the confusion.

Neo STOP !!!!,
Don`t remove the bottom off the shock.!!!! You`ll lose all the damping oil , gas, and most likely damage internal components.
I assume you just want to change the spring ?. Wind off the alloy ring with the grub screw, drop down the spring ,and remove the ring at the top of the shock. Hope this got to you in time ?

Oh my god ....it's all TOO LATE!!!    .....No not really

Thanks Howard. I did have another crack at this at the weekend. But luckily it didn't budge. And I wasn't keen on beating it with sledge hammer :x

So now I can't wait to get home and check out the "ring at the top of the shock" :D
