Scorpa Sales Network

Post by Starky »

Hi everyone,
I seem to remember somewhere in here (or maybe it was another site) that someone said that in 2008 Scorpa was going to be selling there trials range of bikes through the Australian Yamaha dealers network. ^-=-^ :-s
Is there any truth in this statement or is old age playing tricks with my memory or eyesight? :-s

That is correct. You now have to see either Scorpa Australia or your local Yamaha dealer.
Kal of KD Mototrial are still a Scorpa dealer.

Will Scorpas sold through Yamaha dealers be badged as Scorpas or Yamahas? (I think they have been badged all along as Yamahas for the Japanese market)

Scorpa's sold in Australia will still be badged as Scorpa for the foreseable future. They are badged as Yamaha in Japan for obvious reasons, but there is no plan to do that in any other markets.
Scorpa Motorcycles are now sold across France, Italy and Spain officially through the Yamaha dealer network. Scorpa's close relations with Yamaha makes this an obvious choice for point of sale, and service, and has been quite a good partnership since it's inception about two years ago.
Scorpa Motorcycles Australia, under instruction from head office, has moved in this same direction as the French parent company.
With the introduction of the T-Ride later in 08 we hope to have more of these available in "regular" Yamaha dealers as well as through The Hell Team in Sydney.
All Yamaha Dealers have access our New Bike sales and extensive parts inventory, as well as Yamaha's massive stocks. So hopefully one day you will see Trials bikes in all regular motorcycle stores.
We can crate and freight bikes Australia wide for very reasonable rates. Ring or email with your location for freight quote.

I hope they stay as Scorpa and are supported by a niche market. Under a major dealership they are likely to wither...

Can't see me having a sensible conversation with an ex car salesman about a Scorpa at Alto Yamaha in Chatswood...can you?

I too like the way Scorpas have been so well supported within Australia since the Yamaha powered models came out but not all Yamaha dealers are ignorant about Trials.

Our local Yamaha shop has been very helpful over the years, especially before the popularity of the internet, sourcing parts where possible for our old twinshock TYs. The father and son proprietors both competed in Trials until the early 1990s and still have an interest in the local goings-on. I guess they will have even more of an interest now they can sell Scorpas.

May be a return to the late 80's, early 90's when you could walk into a Yamaha dealership and see brand new TY's on the showroom floor. Back then you could also buy parts for your bike without arguing with staff that your bike is a trials not trailbike.
