Ok...so put your hand up if you can tune that motor within an inch of its life.

I need to talk with someone who has actually done the YZ/WR ignition map interchange, the WR to YZ throttlestop alteration and the carb jetting to stop that 3rd gear flat spot.....and even the gear selector star mod to get rid of the false neutrals.

((I am somewhat nervous of the Yam dealers. Thois w/e the local one returned a mates husky after a major service with no oil or water in it.... ))

...and a curious side issue is whether these mods might apply to the later model motor in the SY250F. I think the throttle stop screw in the late model 250F motor is the same as the YZ....so no change required, but the grey wire mod and may still apply....and help u guys who have moved to the Scorpa four banger

(yes...the YZ map will give you revs and peak....the WR map will give you the torque and grip)

The SY250F actually runs a completely different carby setup to the YZ and WRF's. It also has a different inlet tract, and different Intake and exhaust cams, as well as exhaust pipe and muffler, all designed to make the motor trials friendly, and pull like a tractor right off the bottom.
The grey wire mod does not apply, and the bike has it's own specific trials mapping, so even though many parts are the same, the boys in France have really built this this motor for a very specific purpose.

The Planet Japan.... a wonderful place! cant get enough of it.
Kenichi Kuroyama and Alpes Vent are working pretty closly with Yamaha, and have a really good setup.
Nozaki is doing well also.
Yamaha - two out of the top three places in the All Japan Championship, no bad!
And everyone is riding four bangers, not a two stroke to be seen at the top.
But damn it was cold.... lowest temp day -20C winchill -37C. Bbbbrrrrr!

I think you cut the grey wire to set them free. Ask a Yamaha Forum.
