Shortening a TY silencer / Any ramifications

Gday all
Its become apparent to me that the silencer is to long.Its always the first point of damage and sure as the sun shines whenever someone new has a go on my TY they flip it and Im left fixing the silencer.
Im wanting to shorten between the expansion chamber and silencer a couple of inches so it doesnt protude so much.But will this have any adverse affect
Like backpressure ect.
What do you think?
