TY250A. The very first one.

Post by dyan00 »

The very first production model TY250A made was stamped 434-000101, it was the first of approx 18500 "A" models to be built, #101 was kept by Yamaha for the factory museum..
The very first production model TY250A to be sold was stamped 434-000102. Here is a photo of #102 nearly 35 years after it rolled off the assembly line.. I found it in the mud in a salvage yard overseas about a year ago.. Its currently soaked in CRC but will be going to my restoration guy in a few weeks for the full treatment.. I will post photos when its finished if anyone is interested..

Oh its true alright, not the prettiest one Ive seen but the matching numbers are there for all to see, Ive been playin with TY's for longer than I care to remember, so after 30 years of lookin, I guess the odds are that I would find it one day :-) Even the Yamaha Museum have emailed me..

Gday just jumped online to try and work out exactly which bike it is that i just purchased and it sounds like you may be the guy to ask, the frame / engine number is 434 011917 and i am guessing if i add 18500 to the origonal number you quoted 434 000101 then my bike would fit into the 250a bracket...?

Hi
I was just going through some old posts & noticed this one.
Have you got any shots of the finished bike as I would love to see them?

Cheers
