2008 Brooweena Twin shock trial

Post by Scorps »

Howdy Y'all,

As luck would have it, I will be in town for this years event, and was wondering if anyone has some updates? I know David and Starky might have some more info.

I'll put it out there as well that myself and my old man would be most keen to ride if we could look at hiring a couple of twinshockers for the weekend! PM me if anyone is interested.

Cheers,
Your friendly neighbourhood ScorpaMan,
Scorps

Good to hear you will be around for Brooweena.
Its on 5/6 July this year and there will be 3 lines (Novice, Open and something around Clubperson level in between)
Riding starts after lunch Saturday. Its being run as an MA sanctioned Maryborough MCC event. The usual Brooweena arrangements apply ie the observer moves from section to section, riders do each section in turn until all have completed it and you will get five points for stopping.
Starky and Jeff Eckert are setting the sections.
Sending PM to you about bikes later tonight
Regards
David

Howdy Y'all,

Thanks for the info David. Can you tell me what type of event it is? Open/Club day etc. Just need to organise the right licence, join the club etc.

Do you know what level open is going to be - c grade?

Cheers,

It's a closed-to-club event so you will need to be a member of the Maryborough Club. Last year there was a club official on site processing new memberships. Same for buying MA one-event licences on the day.
I'm assuming the same arrangement will apply this year but you should probably check with one of the organisers (Jeff or Starky) to be sure.

I'm expecting Open class will be set similar to SE Queensland C Grade standard.

Like David has said, there will be three lines. Novice for the young riders that we know are wanting to ride. Clubman just a little too difficult for me, but I think most people will ride in this level. Open, which I believe would be about a real C grade line.

We have planned the sections over the last month and will be pegging and tapping up this Sunday. There is seven sections which will be ridden both ways (making 14 sections) one rider at time. Everybody gets to watch you while they wait their turn, it is very social as you get to talk with people as you wait. You do not have to be fit to get through this Trial. Same sections and same set up for Saturday and Sunday. Riding starts at 1pm Saturday and 9 to 9.30 Sunday. So be early on Saturday as we want the paper work well out of the way before the Trial starts. Most people camp over night. Bonfire ready and Noel has been practicing with his VB's

John and Warren will be on hand for event licences, club membership and insurance purposes.

I have a very nice TLR 200 that needs a little work on a bit of throttle lag if you want to play on it, but David may have something better.

Howdy Y'all,

G'Day Starky, how is it going? Myself and the old man are very keen for a ride - David has been kind enough to supply his KT and his TY250B, but thanks for your offer anyway.

I was just talking to Dad, he is keen to come out this Sunday to help out. I think he was going round to see Jeff to tee it up.

Cheers,
Ben

I will be going out to Brooweena about 8.30 am on Sunday after a cup of tea around the camp fire we will be straight into it. I think we have all the gear set so it should only take a couple of hours. There should be Jeff, Steve, Mark Levinge, Mark (dad), John and me, that is plenty to get it over and done with quickly. We are also taking the bikes as we hope to get a little practice in. Happy to have your dad along.

I was hoping you would fix my TLR so you could ride it. Arrh well I tried.
