NSW 2008 championship points chart

Post by Gary B »

Hi all,
I spent a bit of time trying to collate all the finishing positions / points for the 3 rounds we have had so far this year.
If you find any mistakes please let me know so I can fix them up.
Juniors please look hard at this, results posted from Rd.1 didn't list who was a Junior riding in the higher grades, I've had to look at names of Juniors from Rd.2 & Rd.3
I will do my best to keep it up to date as I find out any mistakes or changes.

You can find the NSW 2008 Championship chart under "Latest Results" on the Trials Aust home page.

Keep ya feet up. 8)

Hi, have been checking out the overall standings for the first 3 rounds, but cannot seem to find the B or C grade levels. Are they yet to come, as they weren't on sheets 2 or 3 on the spreadsheet.

Other than that, you have done a great job in doing them. Its great to see where we are are all coming, especially us newcomers.

Cheers

Classes for the NSW Moto-Trial championships are as per classes listed.
There isn't any State chamionship for "B", "C" or Clubman.

Maybe something for the NSW Moto-Trials committee to look at.

Since when has there been no State Championship Classes for Clubman? That's a loss then... Commissioners, where are they?

NSW Trials Committee members are here, AND LISTENING.
Personally speaking though, if there was A, B, C, and Clubman classes in the NSW Trials Championship, then you would have to be "seeded". No more picking which grade you wanted to ride in. Say you won 3 Clubman rounds, well "C" grade here you come. Maybe it would mean the first four placegetters in a Championship get bumped up a grade. Lots of permutations there.
Is this what NSW riders want. Or do they want to pick the severity of what they ride.
I'm sure we are all open to feedback on this issue, it's a complex one for sure. Not as easy as just popping in a few extra state Championship classes Stu!

The prompt reply is appreciated Paul. I thought when the Championship Rounds were held, you were put in the grade you rode during the year in the Club events. Good point that you made about seeding, at least that won't happen. But if you do attain 1st place in 3 Trials don't you automatically get put up a grade anyway?

Stu,
Back in the days when everybody rode a Monoshock TY if you got a trophy in "Primary Grade" (before Clubman) you went to "C" grade, Two First places in "C" grade go to "B" grade, three first places in "B" & guess what, your right, go to "A" grade (No Expert back then).
All this was a NSW thing & there used to be a lot of good riders hanging around the score tent with 1 lap to go just checking out if they may have to drop a 5 so they wouldn't win & get put up a grade.
A proper grading system is something that needs to be looked at, but with lots of different people setting sections with varied severity from one event to the next it is almost impossible to get something uniform happening.
Riders being forced up into higher grades was something that turned a lot of good (but not great) riders away from the sport years ago.
Maybe it would be good to start another "Thread" about a grading system for NSW & leave this one as one to check out our current championships on.

Gary, sorry to hijack this thread. You are doing a sterling job with the pointscore and I hope I can get on the board when I come back into the fray. Hopefully soon! =D>

Good idea to start a new thread for the NSW pointscores..

Hey Stu,
I didn't think anyone was Hijacking the thread, it was just getting off track.
There has been lots of talk for years about "State" championships for lower grades.
It certainly needs a lot of thought before anything is set up though.
How many classes / grades could you have.
Clubman for example is mostly made up of either New riders or Older riders coming down from "C" grade.
When riders in their mid 70's can finish "On the Podium" =D> so to speak does that piss off newer riders & make them feel inadequate.
Do we need another grade for "Super Seniors"??
See what Paul & I mean about lots of things to consider.

Gary,
I can see that there is alot to consider when re-doing any stable schedules. Yes it is a bit rough when a seasoned rider takes out the Class win when you start out, but it made me more determined to do better. I know I have been out of action for these past couple of years and try to keep up with the Championship and news. It will be hard for me to take it all in when i try for a podium(like that's going to happen soon).
Does the Venables scoring still take place with the 'Greybeards' or seasoned riders? If so would it also be applicable to other Classes as well?
