Anone ever heard of a roll-forward throttle?

Received an email query... names removed to protect the innocent!

(stuff about beverages being consumed...) During one evening I piped up and said I had seen footage where a trials bike had a throttle that rolled forward and not back. In my defence I was standing in the middle of a shopping centre watching a free foxtel display waiting for my wife and daughters while my 2 year old son was head butting me. I swear the guy was warming up the bike by rolling it forward (having said that I had no volume). Perhaps I am answering my own question?

I then started to think that might make sense given the fact you boys go up some serious inclines and a throttle that rolls forward might allow you to hang on after you have given it the requisite amount of gas. Having said that I appreciate that most riding requires you to hold on with the legs although you guys don't have as much bike to grip as me on a Honda CRF 450?

Anyway can you put me out of my misery. Has there ever been a trials bike made with a throttle that rolls forward? An experimental model will be enough. Am I clutching at straws?

I've got nothing, and can't imagine it would be a good idea. Anyone? :-k

That's an easy one. The sound was slightly out of synch with the vision. Would have been obvious if there had been a close up of someone speaking. I get it sometimes when dubbing from one DVD to another DVD another depending on which DVD player I use.

David, could the throttle be changed easily for a practical joke?

Hey Stu,
Get ya old TY down to Dad's farm & I'll see what we can whip up for ya.
If you have ever tried riding a bike backwards you would know how it feels to have a throttle in your LEFT hand that feels like your rolling it backwards.

Gary,
I'll be there if you leave the bungers at home. You'll give an old man a heart attack and I don't mean Les!

I'm going there next week to see if I can remember how to ride the TY. #-o

So there you have it.....A standard throttle mounted in the left hand side. Then maybe the video playing in horizontal flip (or mirror) mode. :^o

Best of balance.

I do know of a guy with a 'roll-forward throttle' but its on a crf250x and its on the lefthand side AND he only has one arm! But on the bright side if you can get past him you know you're riding very well!

just a quick point, regarding the comment about it being a mirror image on the tv. this would not produce a roll forward throttle, it would still be a roll ack one but on the left hand.

True....but a "throttle mounted in the left hand side" would.

Best of balance.
