KiethJ, ^W^
I'm not sure if you are famillier with my endevour to start a Trials club in the :NT: . Well, I seem to be the only rider up here, so if that is the case, then I wish to start a club for myself. Why I here you ask. :-k If a club exists, then it is there for people to join, some one has to start, I'm fed up with not being affiliated with anyone and above all, soneone came up with a good name( see above). I do plan to put a display in place up here in the new year to generate some interest and if the club is already in place, then were are 50% there. \:D/
So, what do I need to do to get this going :?: I'm sure there must be some kind of legal requirement :-k , not to mention some kind of recognetion by a governing body [-X . If the required info is too much for a post, then you can email me the details on my email address, [email protected] .This is something I feel quite passionate :thumb: about as I will be up here for at least another 4 years. It would be nice to leave some kind of legacy behind and do something good for the sport. Yours or anyones input would be greatly appreciated. [-o<

Cheers
Davo :NT:

Sorry, I think I've posted this in the wrong section. I will rectify by placing the correct thread in this section, which is about ...me.

Hi Davo,

I really wish you luck getting something started up there.
And I will reiterate; if you are successful I will be one of the first to pay dues.
I might not be able to contribute much to the club being that I'm not a Top End resident, but I would be a most enthusiastic supporter.

Keep your head up and your feet!

I think that we all feel the same way in applauding you on the effort of establishing a new club.

With that in mind you will have to consider the implicications of committees and quorums etc.

All the best

Peter

Cheers guys,
I feel quite strongly about this and appreciate your support. I am a defence member and am fed up with seeing young lads with a desire to go off road, end up in hospital, something that happens a lot with the young soldiers. I feel that they would get a lot of that desire out of their system and at the same time develope the skills to keep them on two legs. This will also, and most importantly, be good for our sport. I am trying hard to get maximum exposure and a club would be one of the best ways. David Lahey gave me a great video, which I have been showing to the guys, and it is generating quite an interest. As for the committees etc, I can be El President, Secretary, brew maker and bottle washer all in one go. Even if I have to organise an event for only one, with my wife as the marshal, then it's a go-er. At least I'll come first, or will I be last? Anyhow watch this space because the NT Croc Hoppers is on its way.

Hi Davo.

Good question!

I reckon the best place to start is a chat with your state controlling body in the :NT:
Contact details:
PO Box 154
Howard Springs, NT 0835
Phone: +61 (0)417 842 480
Fax: +61 (0)8 8983 2200
Email: [email protected]
Manager: Ian Jordan

Possibly worth talking to some of the affiliated clubs up in the :NT: as well. MA has a list here: http://www.ma.org.au/AM/Template.cfm?Se ... _Territory

I don't have any personal experience with the subject, so that's where I'd start.

All the best,

Kieth & All who have responded,
Sorry for the late reply, but since August I have been in Sydney and not visited the site. Thanks for the advice and rest asured that when I return to Darwin :NT: , in December I will be back on track. More so as I have been riding with some of the guys at Pacific Park and expeienced some of the fun and comradeship of club spirit. Another reason I will keep at it is that I was going to ride in the Appin event, but as I am not afiliated with a club and as such, don't hold a licence, I was unable to compete. Not to worry though, as I am able to take part by observing there instead. In relation to another post in the Trials talk feed, it will be a pleasure. I was neither coersed nor do I expect anything in return. Anyhow, thanks again and watch and listen for Australias' baby trials club, soon to start.

Hello Davo
I am not sure on the rules in NT but in Queensland we had to start by contacting the office of fair trading and filling out a bit of paperwork to become a legitimate association .Part of thathis process involve forming a constitusion which are the rules by which the club will run .They have a standard format which you add to . The next step would be to talk to the local MCB if you wish to be affiliated with MA or you can run independant for a while untill you get it built up enough , in which case you will need insurance . A reputable broker would be able to help you there . If I can help more please let me know . I am a member of both types of club and believe the more people we can get into the sport of trials the better .
Happy trialling
Regards Owen
