Having a poke around The Hell Team website and noticed they will soon be selling the elusive Xispa http://www.thehellteam.com/catalogue/c6/c114

I'd be interested to know the pricing of these bikes, particularly the 250 and 125.

I know that the Xispa has been a big point of discussion on other trials forums regarding its quality / Sherco rip-off etc.

I have no real opinion other than I think it looks great. I'd really be interested in what the quality and performance are like.

What are your thoughts?

So are Mercedes Benz cars and Marzocchi suspension now made in China.

Let's have a think about this..would you prefer to ride unknown chinese bike off a 10ft cliff or do it on a bike made in europe with a proven history of reliability.

The quality of chinese products have lifted alot compared to what they used to be. The ability of the chinese to replicate things so cheaply contributes greatly to the reason they're booming at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if these bikes turn out to be half decent, because if they've done it right, i reckon they could rip off the others and be very close to the same standard. I'd be interested to see anyway...

I think the biggest problem is being the first few to take the plunge... Once a few ppl get on board and give them the thumbs up, then more ppl will be happy to join them i reckon!

Personally, i'd only buy one if they were significantly cheaper than the others and only if i'd heard good things. Otherwise I'd spend my money on a 2nd hand European.

I do think they look good though!

I'm not specifically referring to the Xispa, but if a bike is good to ride, reliable and looks nice, why does it matter where some of the bits were made?

When I was a little kid, many people said that there is no way they would ever buy a motorbike/car/stereo/camera etc made in Japan and would only ever buy solid, reliable, well made products like those made in England and America .

I shouldn't have to point out that one of the main reasons that people nowadays buy Honda/Montesa and Scorpa trials bikes is because the motors in them are made in Japan and that Japanese manufacturing quality has been among the best in the world for fourty years.

The Xispa may well have problems, or it may be a little ripper - I don't know, but lets not prejudge it, or whatever else may come out of China.

One of the good ole roadranger ( usa all the way ) gearboxes had to come out of one of the work trucks a little while back, guess what was cast on the case?

Yep, made in china.

Anything can be made in China to what ever standard you want depending on what amount you want to pay. You want cheap you get cheap.
