Hey,

so I got my new lower triple clamp (thankyou Don @ moto central) got some bearings for it, put it all back together but I think I have a problem. The stem (on the lower triple clamp) that runs up thru the headset inside the bearings is a fraction shorter than the old one.

When I tightened the nut up ontop of the stem, only the bottom half of the nut picks up the thread on the stem.

is this bad?

Both top and bottom bearings are seated correctly, and I re-used the aluminium washer that sits below the lower bearing.

Geez Junior....what a pain.
First thing to check is your part nos. Is your new triple clamp #949113750?
The other thing to check is parts breakdown of a later model to see if everything is the same and all part nos are the same.
Unfortunately I only have the 02 parts breakdown here.
My thinking is that maybe Sherco made some slight changes over model runs and maybe you have a later model triple clamp. Not really my area of expertise.....maybe one of the Sherco guys on this forum might have an answer.
The other though is can you go compare your bits with another Sherco in the area?
More thoughts... are the bearings exactly the same depth????

yeah the bearings are the same, I got the part number from moto central and took a sample with me to SKF so no problem there, I'll have to double check that part number on wednesday when I get home tho. I wouldn't have worried asking as it seems to work fine, but the nut isn't all that thick and if it comes lose then I could be in trouble.

Whoops. I was looking at the wrong set of part numbers. Try this one ....RO97.
