Behaviour, Code of Conduct and Reactions

Read between the lines here...

If a rider is 'assaulted' (minor) by another in the course of an MNSW affiliated club race...what would be your response or action, personal or official?

'minor' as in a minor assault, or an assault on a minor?
Either way any dispute should be brought to the Clerk of Course. It is my understanding that they are the official of the Trial. If the relevant people want to take it further, it then goes to the Commission doesn't it?
Can't the people work it out themselves?

Hey Sprocket what way was the minor (junior rider I presume) assaulted?.
Did another rider run into him or visa versa & then did a punch up ensue from there?
Did it happen in a race, in the pits??
There are a lot of variables & I've heard of a recent incident that resulted in a rider having his licence susspended for 12 months.
Normally it comes down to a bit of calling names & sometimes a push & shove.
The one I've heard about was Junior riders (15 yo) & dad's got involved too & so did some fists.
Any issues you may have should have been brought to the attention on the Clerk of Course, who would then look into it & then take it to the Steward if need be.
If your really concerned about what went on ring MNSW.

I will relay it as I saw it. I saw 100% of the incident. It was a relatively small incident but I am keen to learn how to handle such a thing.

The first place rider took the chequered flag.
Second place rider went through the chequered flag and then fell off his bike at the next corner. His bike was across the track and hidden from the oncoming riders.
My son went through the flag third (but not in third place due to an earlier crash) and made the corner, only to find the downed bike in his path. He braked hard to avoid the downed bike and rider (pure safety reaction). My sons front wheel ended up ontop of the rear wheel of the downed bike...and from a distance the bikes looked locked together. My son was unable to move due to the steepness of the track, so a marhshall ran to asist.

The downed rider got up and an in a frenzied fashion tried to pull their bike clear...which was not possible. The downed rider then aggresively grabbed my son by the shoulders and pulled him and his bike down (presumably to try to solve the problem). My son fell under his bike and the marshall then arrived to clear the mess.

My son - got straiight on his bike and was sent to the to the pits. The other downed rider attemped to start their bike - which occurred after a while and proceeded to the pits.

Under normal circumstances my son would have completed his last lap.

That is the end of the incident on the track.

My question is, in Junior Racing, what should normally occur in terms of official reprimand/sanctions for the other riders behaviour?

((My comment is...if that was my son who had behaved like that, I would have put the bikes on the trailer and gone straight home))

I do not intend taking ny action for all the obvious reasons, but I am curious to know what he rules are and whay you guys think of the event. Is it outrageous or just racing?

KTMS,
unless Junior 's ride to different rules,
a race is deemed to have finished when the rider in first position crosses the finish line after completing the required # of laps.
All riders following, whether on the same lap or lapped, finish their race as they also cross the line.
Depending on the layout of the circuit they may complete a slow down lap but most tracks direct riders back to the pits at the immediate conclusion of a race & don't allow slow down laps.
In the case of a lapped rider, they would be declared to have finished a lap down.
I do not know of any senior competition where riders complete their full # of laps if in a lapped position.
