hi new to the website and just chasing some parts for 1974 ty 250 i have got. I am looking for a way to get my hands on front and rear guards, rubber boot between carb and aif filter, airfilter and a throttle cable. Any ideas would be great thanks

For guards, have a read of a recent thread in this forum all about getting TY twinshock mudguards. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4252
Rubber boot airbox to carby - not available as a new item anywhere in the world. I expect that someone might start making new replicas at some stage but not yet. The bottom radiator hose from a Landcruiser F?J55 will work well if you shorten it and they are commonly available. I'm told you can buy radiator hoses in silicone rubber but haven't seen them yet but they would probably last longer than the standard radiator hose rubber in contact with petrol.
Air filters are available from Yamaha shops if you like furry yellow filters. Unifilter Australia http://www.uniflow.com.au make normal looking air filters for them.
Don't know about standard Yamaha throttle cables to fit oil pump and standard twistgrip. Sometimes they appear on eBay but pretty rare. Most people run premix and use a single cable.

David, didnt know uni-filter covered such a large range of bikes, got it covered (after doing a few different bike brand searches).
Are the filters double skinned? Breathe better? Wash better?

The ones I've bought from Unifilter Australia for my 1970s bikes are all single skin. The foam and glue joints seems to last longer than the genuine Yamaha TY filters and yet they cost about the same (maybe the Yamaha filters are already old when I have bought them). I've not noticed any difference in engine breathing compared with the Yamaha ones, nor have I ever had to change jetting. They wash out well, just as Yamaha filters do.
I'm not sure where the foam sheet is made, but I think the cutting and glueing is done in Sydney. Well, that is where I have sent air boxes to in the past so they can make patterns for KT250 and TM125 filters.
