I came across this about passport photos have not tried it but i know I'm sick of trying to find one of those passport photo booth in westfields and then loosing money in them when they don't work to get my passport sized photo for my MA licence.
"In these days of digital cameras and cheap prints (e.g. 50c or less) from the chemist, there is still a very high charge (~$10) to get your own photos printed in passport format, or to have the chemist take a digital photo on their camera and then print it the same way on their photo-kiosk. The obvious question is “Why not do it yourself?”, as they really are charging a high fee for no (or minimal) effort. Why not take your own photo and then turn that into 6-8 copies at home for a single 6x4" print at the kiosk? You can do it in Photoshop or some other piece of software, but that can be more effort than its worth.
Instead try ePassportPhoto and let them do the tricky part of re-sizing your images. While they also offer an online (US) printing service, they let you make you own image for free to print at your local kiosk or your own printer. Simply follow their instructions to select a country that the photos need to comply with (e.g. US is different to Australia), upload your photo from your computer, size the photo head correctly, and then download the composite image with 7 copies of your photo on the one 6x4" image file. The process is automated and takes just as long as the time to upload and download the images from the web site.
Now, take the composite image back to the kiosk on your camera memory card or a USB thumb drive and then print it yourself for 50 cents.
My family of 5 has just got all new passports issued and the photos were all accepted at the Passports office, so we have proved you can do it yourself and have saved nearly $50. We also have a handful of extra photos that we will use for visas and other documentation.
Things to watch for:
1. You have to cut up the individual photos yourself so try and do a neat job with scissors or get a small cutting machine or guillotine.
2. You need to make sure your photo complies with the Australian Government Passports Office guidelines. However this isn't too hard, especially if you have someone in the family who has an interest in photography. Also, if you mess it up, you can do it again for another 50 cents."

Why can't we do something so simple in NSW.
Last year they sent my license to the wrong address(there fault) and it turned up 3 months latter( a blatant MA NSW fault).
I had to pay extra to get one sooner even though they said it was not there fault.
