Has anyone got any pics of obstacles, you have made for training?
Looking for some more ideas to add to my backyard.
I saw mention of Greg's ones from the Bucca Trial, anyone have any shots of them.
Cheers

I don't have any room for man-made obstacles at my place now but i used to have quite a few involving bathtubs, old chairs, logs, rocks at my old place.. but unfortunately i have no pics!!
I'd also like to see wat other ppl have got....

Hi Kembro,
Just replying to your post. Good to see you are interested in man-made obstacles. I have been designing and making these for over six years both for trials and mountian bikes. I have been one of the editors and the marketer for Bucca Trial dvd's 2004, 05, 06 & 07. Prices range from $15 to $25 plus postage. At the moment I have copies with 05 & 06 on one dvd for $25. You can contact me on 02 66543444 or 0428789854 or email

Gday Kembro.
Its pretty easy to put together arena style stuff. We did one section at the the last trial of the season last year which proved to quite entertaining.
All we did was haul an assortment of crap out that was laying around the sheds, which included an old ute tray, a bunch of pine posts, two pallets of bricks, some spare pallets, a set of 4wd wheels, some small haybales and a big round bale for the A graders.
The pallets got bolted together into A shape and the wheels were all slapped together courtesy of a piece of threaded rod. The bricks were all chucked into one long L shaped pile.
It was all pretty well much thrown together on the day before the trial, and given some more time and thought probably could have come up with something more sophisticated. But sometimes thats the beauty of it....in that it doesn't have to be complicated if you don't want to spend ages puttting it together.
It probably comes down to what is available locally cheaply or even better for free.
Gone kinda nuts lately a have collected some tractor tyres, truck tyres, some more empty pallets and a bunch of 44 gallon drums. Still looking for a suitable car tho. Have found a truck but getting that here maybe a middle of the night job!
As far as setup and designs go....got no idea really! I found a bit of inspiration from the back pages of Bernie Schrieber's Observed Trials book which has an excellent section on arena trials.
The best answer sometimes is just to google "arena trials" and see what you get.
Or look thru the European Trials sites to see what they have over there. A good one to start with is-

Hope this helps

GasGasman if you want a car give Colin Behn a call and he can get one and it may be even delivered.
I have several Spa Baths if you want to collect them from Edwardstown. They need to be overlayed with several layers fiberglass to give them the extra strength and they last a fair time.

Gday Gary
Where did you score cable reels that size? The only ones I have been able to find are only shrimpy ones.

GGman,
I'm not sure where we got the huge timber reel.
Wollongong MCC did a demo for a local Harley Club & they organised the reel, pallets, concrete pipes & tyres for us.
After the Demo we left all the stuff there to be picked back up again.
I will try to find out for you though.
