A little bird (who just returned from the Townsville trial) told me that there are two more Central Queensland RL250s about to be put to use at Rocky Trials Club events.
One RL is ready for competition and the other is a few days away. Heres hoping they will both be at the Bob's Creek trial (near Rockhampton) next weekend.
KT250s have been building in popularity for a couple of years now and now it seems that Suzukis will also become a familiar thing! I can see Wazza getting excited already.
By the number of TL125s being bought up lately, TL125s may be the next wave of additions to the local twinshock fleet.
It certainly makes a change from what was once almost a one-brand class a few years ago.

Hell, do RL250's breed???
Wazza will not be able to contain his excitement on hearing this.
Imagine when he lays eyes on them. Don't let him close enough to fondle them or is that how they are breeding??
Wazza I knew there was something odd about you

Your a cruel man Starky. When I told you how deep my emotions were for the Suzuki brand and in particular RL's, I foolishly assumed you would keep it to yourself! To my fellow RL owners can I just say that this attept on my sexual integrity could only be the product of someone who's mind has well and truly past it's used-by date.

This is especially for Wazza
The two young blokes from Mackay who are getting RL250s going again rode at todays RTC trial at Calliope - sharing this one. It ran beautifully and did most of the trial but didn't quite finish due to a flat tyre.

Awe Dave, it brings a tear to the eye just lookin' at it.
The fuel tank is obviously from the optional "long-ride" kit that Suzuki offered at the time.....

Hey Hey.
The RL250's are my favourite. Mine has been gathering dust for the last 4 years because I stripped the rear sprocket and needed a new front brake cable.
Now that I have some time on my hands since selling my superjet I am back on the bikes/
I am getting my '74 RL ready for competition at Mount Kembla. I am also getting it ready for road registration. I have the lights and everything that are original to an RL.
I'm thinking "SWEET"!
Ever seen a registered twin shock in a comp? I haven't yet. We will soon. Exciting!!
I even scored a spare steel tank off a '75 so I can keep my Aluminium tank in ok nick.

Re: More RL250s on the local scene
as a point of interest 74 RL250L was the full comp model and were never relesed in oz with lights.it has an alloy tank, comp silencer, differant internal baffles in pipe, 428 pitch chain and sprockets. the 1975 RL250M steel tank version however was availble with lights, blinkers, horn, speedo 520 pitch chain and sprockets and a duel stator catering for the whole set up! [ts 250 trail bike stator i bet] and they were just good ol rl,s here, exacta was what they called them to flog em to the yanks! by 75 suzuki knew they were in trouble moving RL,s . beamish took most of the left over stock and sadly that was the end.

Re: More RL250s on the local scene
My 74 Suzuki has all RL parts. There are no TS foreigners. It has an alloy tank and a 520 pitch chain. Battery box, light, stator with a neutral switch. This bike is probably a special. However, I have photo's of a 74 with all the road gear as original. I used to own a Yamaha DT175A that was black. Yamaha had no record of it but they made it. It was all original. Can you tell me any more from this photo?

The Other side.
The chassis and engine number is RL250-15286. I didn't buy it new. It was my grandfathers for 20 odd years and I have had it for 13 years. I can't say if it's original or not by documentation. I have a repair manual and two microfiche but have not yet found anything about detailing the light gear for any RL model.
