Pulled the RH cover off tonight and found the "special screw" - yes that's what it's called in the parts diagram
So, seems an easy fix. Screw it in, tighten the locking nut, and away we go.
My question therefore, is how much free play do I allow when screwing this in? Eg. screwed in until resistance just felt gives zero movement at the lever on the other side of the engine (the lever that the cable actually pulls.)
Back it off an eighth of a turn gives about 3-4mm free play at the lever.
I've mucked around with anything from 3mm to 10mm free play. Assuming the slack gets taken up at the handlebar clutch lever via the cable adjuster, it all seems to work. Note I've only tested this by putting it into gear and turning the rear wheel by hand, not actually starting the engine.
Is there a recommended amount of slack in the lever that I should set via the "special screw" in the clutch housing? I'd rather find out now before I put it all back together!
Thanks.
