Hi, I am a new member, I have 3 RL 250 Suzuki Trials Bikes. One in really good shape (not mint), one that needs work and a parts bike. I am having trouble with the engine staying running on the good one. Not sure what the proper engine oil is, I have been told several different things(Synthetic) etc. can anyone suggest the best. Also I am looking for someone that can repair the aluminum tanks without it costing the price of a bike. Thanks

If you are in Brisbane I can recommend someone economical to fix the aluminium tank.
A commonly available and suitable oil for mixing with petrol for your bike is Castrol TTS.
Can you give better symptoms to guide someone helping resolve the stopping problem?

I'm actually out of Omaha NE USA, thought this site would be fun. I am talking about the engine oil not the gas additive oil. The bike runs for a while then it sounds like it just ran out of gas, maybe you are right and the problem is something other than the oil. Haven't had these bikes long, going to work on fixing things up once work slows down. They are a blast to ride.

Would love to talk to your guy about the tank if it's not too much to mail it back and forth, but they are pretty light. If he is willing to share his information I will contact him. Thanks for the response.

Postage for your fuel tank to Australia and back would cost way more than the repair work.
For gearbox oil just go to a motorcycle shop that sells off-road motorcycles or an auto parts shop and buy a quart of "two-stroke gearbox oil - suitable for wet clutches". Your brands will be different to ours so I can't recommend a brand.
As far as the motor stopping goes, it probably is running out of fuel. Check the flow that can come through the fuel tap with the hose off it. Common causes for this are that the tank vent is blocked or the fuel tap filter (inside the tank) is restricted.
