Hi All,
Typically I use a 4 stroke 20 50 in my YZ250 1981 gearbox/clutch [no friction modifiers]

What are people using in Rotax powered trials rigs [swm, armstrong,can am, etc] or other brands for that matter?

I have heard of straight auto transmission fluid being used and "2 stroke gearbox oil" ???

Also any body got any clues on volume for the rotax 280cc rotary induction engine and manual for same.
I found the PDF parts book on http://www.motoswm.com but no clues on a manual.

Any help appreciated?

Hi Mark,

Specific two stroke gear box oil is what I was using, there are a number of brands. I think we were using Motoul. Remember those barnett clutch plates are a carbon kevlar mix like modern mx bikes. You realy want to choose an oil that works best with the clutch - any brand will all lubricate the gears and bearings sufficiently.

As for the oil quantity there is a oil level bolt (allen bolt) on the side of the engine case. I think it is slightly obscured by the gear selector arm. Sit the bike level and fill until oil just starts to trickle out the hole, that is the correct level. They use this system so it is possible to top-up the oil to the correct level. If you measure what you put in then you will know how much to use when doing a full oil change.

Hi mate motul is always been good but i got some GRO or globle racing oil of kal kdmoto and it seam's very good
