Hi all.
I last rode trials as a kid back in the late 70,s,came across from England and found nothing in the state of tasmania .So as the years rolled on I began riding MX and enduro ,losing all interest with trials.Only in the last year or so have I taken any notice at all of trials by watching Foxtel and seeing it again.I was amazed at how far this sport has evolved! just Gobsmacked at what riders and bikes are doing now!.Maybe its because im 46 and still in a time warp but I think the "modern" trails has evolved into a sort of stunt riding show, fantastic skills and great to watch dont get me wrong, but the sport of old that I new has gone, riders toddling up the creeks in the scottish 6 day ,Farmers fields and creek beds brimming with every type of affordable bike.Mum ,Dad not having to go into debt to get the latest carbon fibre fly weight bike. The latest riders fly thier feather weight machines up or over mindblowing obstacles like evil kenevel .I am glad that classic trails is still around, hopefully when I find the right "steed" I can grip on tight as I heave the old girl up over a log or down a creek bed and feel chuffed I dident go over the bars! let alone jump the grand canyon or levitate over a mountain range !

as a rider the same age as you Warrior64, I had resisted for 26 years buying a newer bike. I have ridden my TY250a in comps on and off thoughtout those years. I now have an '03 Sherco for daily trials, BUT nothing will replace the TY for fun and toughness. I have to learn to ride the Sherco, different style, but I can still use the similar style on the TY. The older TY can still mix it with the newer bikes as I have proven over the years.
Get along to an Oakleigh trials Club event, I'm sure they still have the Classic Trials down there. There has to be something in Tassie as well.
Good luck and keep ya feet up!
Feet up, as always!

Hi - Yes there are still trials events in Tasmania.
We hold events every month in different parts of the state.
There is a twinshock class for older trials bikes.
You are most welcome to come along - you can get a day membership and ride entry for $25 or join the club for a year for about $50 plus $15 a ride.
I can put you in touch with other trials riders in your local area if you contact me 0418131341
PS - we have newsletters on this site as well.
