USA trials Rules

Post by yamfan »

Looking at a US observing training video there are quite a few descrpencies from what we ride although they say it is for their nationals, arn't they riding the same rules as us?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OztbQavp ... re=related

Points of interest are:

The rider dismounts to the left side of the bike and only gets a one because his foot was still on the peg?
Our sup regs say both feet must be on the ground on the same side of the bike for a five so I suppose thats right? I would call it a dismount.

The rider crosses his own track with only his front wheel as opposed to both wheels and gets a clean?

The rider cannot go through another grades gate to get to his own gate and collects a five?

In the second video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXnbG8aE ... re=related

The rider works his way backwards using a series of sideways hops and still gets a clean.

The rider rides over his own marker and gets a clean.

The rider takes one hand of the handlebar whilst stationary and doesn't get a five.

I must say I like the dismount rule, that could save me a few!
What would happen if you stall whilst balancing, and used your hand to pull out the kickstart (for a Fantic) One point I suppose.

Rider does not have both hands on the handlebar when he foots, whilst stationery, 5 points.
Engine stopping whilst rider stationary and rider footing or leaning, 5 points.
Balance the bike with a stalled engine and take your hand off the handle bar to pull the kick starter and start the engine whilst not footing, priceless (0 Points).

And for everything else you could ride a Scorpa!

............Fair enough, and quite rightly so, but wouldn't it be simpler to just keep the motor running? Or doesn't it work that way for a Fantic?
