Trial report and results for RTC Inc trial 18 September 2011 at Bobs Creek property, between Gladstone and Rockhampton

This time we rode in the most Westerly section of this wonderful trials property that we have been before. Great spring weather and fantastic sections greeted the riders on the Sunday. Thank you to the section setters who once again cleared out densely grassed areas for the sections and for access to the sections. Six sections that included all grades were set in and around the rock-strewn flowing water creek bed.

The creek stones and slabs were as slippery as ever with shallow flowing water and months of brilliant sunshine to help the algae grow. Smooth riding techniques were rewarded.

We had a couple of new members there enjoying the trial. Jimmy McPherson had recently moved up to Central Queensland from the ACT and rode a Sherco in A grade while Matt Charles, a recent arrival from NSW, rode his Sherco to win B grade.

A Grade was a very close race with the grey fox Don Jones on his stealthy Scorpa just pipping young Jimmy McPherson for the win.

With some riders including the Sophios family on the way to the big trials week in South Australia, the numbers were down a bit for this time of year.

The youngsters were helped by Todd Matheson, Glen Hunt and Wendy Lahey.

Drew Wickerson was there taking photos but his recently fixed shoulder was not ready for riding yet. Peter Deloub was there too as a spectator.

Rhonda Evans took some great photos which are on the RTC Inc Facebook page

Section severity was perfect and the sections were very enjoyable to ride. They were tricky, cleverly set, challenging, safe and rewarding of good technique. The award for the best stack goes to Tim Stone who, according to the witness, jumped off at exactly the right time, curled up into a ball and rolled safely down the hill out of harm’s way.

More than a few people did the splits big-time as they tried to foot on the slimy rocks.
The kids had a great time playing in and around the creek. It was just warm enough for getting fully wet to be enjoyable.
