Trial report and results for RTC Inc trial 12/13 November 2011 at Seeonee Park, Rockhampton
The section setters spent the preceeding weekends clearing the seven, all-grade sections in and around the dry creek-line to the East of the road to the phone tower. The sections brought back fond memories especially the famous fallen-gum-tree LOG section which is always entertaining. The sections were set to a suitable standard for the conditions and the riders present. Thankyou Don Jones, Drew Wickerson, Brian Crozier, good/bad Angela and any other section setters I might have missed.
There were quite a few riders from Townsville and Mackay areas so the riding format allowing the riding to be done Saturday, Sunday, or both days worked well, allowing an early departure on the second day. It also worked well for local Darryl Easterman who had to work Saturday.
Some riders moved up a grade for this trial - Sarah Chivers rode B grade and Timothy Evans rode C Grade.
Limestone creek had a few young swimmers cooling off at the weir which was still up to overflowing despite it being so late into the dry season and the hot showers were greatly appreciated by all after riding on the Saturday.
The end-of-year party, annual riding awards and Drew’s novelty award presentations went very well. I always enjoy Drew’s video creations and this year we saw the first of his HD helmet cam work which was quite remarkable, especially the parts where he walked beside Don as he rode through a section at Boston’s, and the part where riders were “helping” Timothy Evans with his mud-clogged KT250. Zara has posted a video on the RTC Inc Facebook page of Timothy being presented with the Hog’s Breath Café “Pig-in-mud” award for his efforts that day. True to the requirements of the award, Timothy rode the trial with his pink porcine facial adornment and collected his $50 Hog’s Breath Café voucher.
The weather was kind to us with relatively mild temperatures (for November) and a decent breeze. It was a very enjoyable event overall and a lovely end for club activities for the year.
The riding class awards for the year were:
Novice – Timothy Evans
C Grade – Glenn PIncham
B Grade – Paul Lynham
B Grade Twinshock – Ken Cutmore
A Grade – Don Jones
Overall Club Champion this year was Timothy Evans
