TY250A Outer Cases

Hi, Can anyone tell me or know if the outer castings on a TY250A engine are aluminium or Magnesium..I need to have a few deep scratches and dents welded up..

the ally case will be heavy as compaired with mag.If filed or small drilled the mag filings will burn with a lighter or match,the filing are so light they get airborne with the slightest breeze,they will float on water. the welder can also test by welding a blob of 5% sil/ally 4043 on casting then break it off ,if it comes off easy with plyers, it will be a mag casting.Make sure its all clean as if you could eat off it! hope this helps .

Yes TY250A model cases are aluminium. The flatter shape cases that come on on B model and later models are magnesium. Both types can be welded by someone with the right skills.
