TLR V's RTL Gearing

Post by sharvie »

Is there any difference in the internal gearing between an 85 TLR and the 89 RTL

Been running 10/40 gearing on my TLR this past year, if I run the same on my 89 RTL will it perform the same? (excepting the motor performance advantage of the RTL)

Except for the kickstart mechanism and mag side casings, TLR 250 motor is pretty much exactly the same as the RTL. The RTL motors do run better than TLR though, but this is purely due to the RTL having much better intake and exhaust systems.

Both motors work an awful lot better with a TM24 Mikuni fitted, but for anyone in Aus it might be worth looking at the OKO 24mm kits the Aus importer supplies for the TLR.

Hi Brian,

Not sure if I will get the opportunity to compete on it, hope to have it in competition spec though.

Haven't even ridden the TLR this past two months, got a bit more going on this year

Hello Steve,
Rumour has it that there maybe/will be an RTL250 at bong rock this friday morning . If your not busy maybe you could get yours out? And if AH took the morning off he could be there too.
Cheers

Hi Brian,

Still pretty stitched up at present, & need to reassemble the wheels. Thanks for the invite though.

Did you say the name of this place you are going to is "Bong Rock"??, what's going on out there??
