TLR seized cylinder head bolt
Hi - my TLR200 looks like it might have started chewing up the piston with metal everywhere - I have the head cover off but I can't shift the cylinder head bolt - it is only a 10mm head and have tried ring spanner and impact driver - heated the area around the bolt and it just will not move. Any ideas on how to move it or what to do if it won't come out ...please

Re: TLR seized cylinder head bolt
Hello Keychange. I would try soaking the bolts in penetrating oil ( CRC, WD40.) and then try a rattle gun on them. It might work. Make sure you use a six sided socket though. Good Luck. Graham.
Re: TLR seized cylinder head bolt
Thanks Graham - I can't get a normal socket on it ( it is only one philips headed hex bolt) and there is a lip on the casing that comes out to nearly level with the bolt. I used WD40 but there is no real way to get it down into the thread so in the end I got an old six sided socket and ground the wall down so I could get it past the lip fitted it to 1/2 spline on the impact driver and belted the bugger .... hey presto it came out in one piece but the head of the bolt is now stuffed
Re: TLR seized cylinder head bolt
Get hold of a 10mm pin punch, and give the end of the bolt a few sharp taps using a medium weight hammer. If it still wont come out, then cut off the bolt head using a die grinder, remove the top end, and get a mole wrench on the lower par of the bolt, and heat the crankcase mouth with oxy/acetylene torch.
