This works for me and the pull is about the same as a modern hydraulic clutch. I removed 3 of the clutch basket springs (every other one). Cleaned and lubed actuator worm gear, new well lubed cable, Moose (there are other brands) lever with more than one cable attachment hole (used the one closest to the handlebar), switched to automatic transmission fluid in transmission. Make sure the actuator (push) rods are straight.
I ride at 4000 to 8000 feet elevation and get no clutch slippage however when I ride near sea level where I have a lot more power I can get slippage in 4th gear under full throttle conditions, no problems in sections so I just avoid full throttle 4th and 5th gear conditions. I suppose removing only 2 springs would work with a harder pull. I had some slip with 10W-40 motor oil in tranny. I have used this set up for several years with no problems. I also change the tranny oil each year.
I think B J Racing might carry a multi position lever. I got the moose lever through Dennis Kirk, a large supplier of aftermarket motorcycle, ATV & snowmobile parts. You might try "denniskirk.com" don't know if they ship overseas. They are in Rush City, Minnesota, USA.

On some bikes it very simple to fit hydraulic clutch kit intended for pit bikes. Here in the UK they cost around £30, and seem to work pretty well if you have a heavy clutch.

Thanks, I've seen those but they take me out of vintage class. Appreciate the thought and your time to reply.
