Betor shock seals

Betor shock seals
Have searched several forums, but found no one who has actually renewed the seals on recent Betor shocks. I see Trail & Trial are advertising the new ones with ' Larger stronger oil seal for the damper rod' which seems to indicate the previous version was crap, which some US forums also seem to think. Anyone know if its possible? and if so who has the seals? May take JonV8's advice on Trials Central and just ride it with leak, as I am quite light and its 'only' a TL 125. I do love it though, unforunately the wife won't let me keep it in the bedroom.
Re: Betor shock seals
Seemingly 900 pairs of Betor shocks are now on the market, all of which are fitted with faulty seals! Have heard of them leaking after one trial, so anyone who has had this happen should be in line for a refund?

Re: Betor shock seals
Mine started leaking after a little practice. Now after about 3 trials they are leaking bad enough to dirty up the rear wheel.
I called the Tryals Shoppe where I bought them this afternoon and they are checking with their supplier for a warrenty and will get back to me. If I am sucessful I will post
the results here.
I have some Falcons that leak and have kept them going buy ocasionaly removing the valve stem and draining then refilling the oil and putting in 12 psi of air. Still a mess on the side of the bike but can get a month or so out of them.

Re: Betor shock seals
If you bought the Betors recently and they leaked that quickly, I would guess they are probably one of the faulty batch. Falcon shocks can be rebuilt, and its easy to fit new seals yourself, but its only worth doing this if damper rods are in perfect condition.

Re: Betor shock seals
Dear all,
Stop being seduced by the advertising claims and shiny metal parts of RockShocks, Falcons, Magicals, Hagons, Betors and the excrebale YSS Chinese crap and run, don't walk, to the threshold of a true ENGINEERING COMPANY'S website njbshocks.co.uk
Talk to Norman J Blakemore and tell him your bike, your weight ( don't lie! ) , any mods you have made, the type of terrain you ride and your credit card and shipping details and you will benifit from the experience of a proper engineer and have a set of shocks perfectly matched to your riding requirements that do what you want them to do, drop through your mailbox in about two weeks.
I have used his shocks for the last three years and have dropped my several bikes numerous times during that period.
Any other shock would have given up the ghost by now.
They do nor have trendy finishes or stickers.
They do not look anything special.
They do, however, contain quality components and are designed to suspend the back end of a twin shock motorcycle by a genius who knows what he is talking about.
Buy them, fit them and forget them... they are that good....and cheap at twice the price too!
Regards,
Joe henderson.

Re: Betor shock seals
Thanks Joe, but I already have been seduced!! Last June from SM Products to be precise, so probably out of warranty.
FM350 - Falcon shocks can be rebuilt, and its easy to fit new seals yourself, but its only worth doing this if damper rods are in perfect condition. Falcon has 6 letters, Betor only five, I want to rebuild the latter, not Falcons, or are you saying they are the same?
I assume from the lack of a definitive answer on buying seals, its a no then.

Re: Betor shock seals
If you have access to a lathe and can machine the sealed ends of the Betor shocks off and then make new seal housings, then I would imagine you would be able to fit new seals no problem. However Betor damper rods dont seem to be that good quality, and unless they are 100% perfect the new seals will fail very quickly, so its really a case of binning them, and maybe thinking about avoiding buying Betor again in future.
Re: Betor shock seals
Have certainly made that decision. Good tip though, if they are toast then no harm in trying
Re: Betor shock seals
Should be an interesting ride in Tamworth next week as well

Re: Betor shock seals
A sucessful resulution to my recently purchased but leaking Betors. Tryals Shoppe said they contacted Betor and they admited they put out a batch that were crap and are sending me a new pair with larger damper rods via the Tryals Shoppe. Kudos to both companys.
