One of the most common topics of conversation at twinshock trials here is what was done to a standard Ty250 frame to make it into a Majesty.When I was asked to do some repairs to one I saw an oppertunity to find out the truth.I made a jig which allows a standard frame to be cut and rewelded to Majesty spec.Its been a really interesting project and today I nearly managed to finish modifying one of my spare frames.There are many detail differences which are hard to spot until you actually start cutting the frame up and rewelding it.There is a web album of pictures here; https://picasaweb.google.com/AllyV8/MajestyFrame#

I did something along the same lines to a TY250 back in the 70's and the alterations did seem to make the bike quite a lot better. The main improvement seems to come from angling the shock mount position, which means much more progressive rear springing, and is exactly what Honda did later on with the TLR.

One thing Jon, at the mounting point of the shock ( top ) I see that you did not weld gusset to prevent bending of the tube, was that like that on the original Majesty ?

Well spotted Guy,thats this mornings job,along with welding around the back of where the original shock mounts covered the tube joint.Then its a case of removing the original footrest mounts and adding plates for new ones.Then there are some bits to trim off the rear lower engine mount and a silencer bracket to trim and replace.
That should be about it.... I've had the original frame too long and as work is slack at the moment I have a chance to get on with it.I want to get every last detail correct.It will be nice to hace a choice of a standard TY and a Majesty alongside each other.

If you have spare time Jon make an exhaust for your TY............junking the very restrictive stock parts makes a very big difference to the less than great performance, and tends to make the bikes easier and more fun to ride.

Thanks for all the positive comments,I've done the last bits on the rear shock mounts and added a couple more photo's on the web album.The only thing left to complete the frame is to add footrest brackets,but I'll do that as part of the dry build before painting etc.
Its quite alot of work to do this,but I'm happy to help if anyone else is doing this.The original Majesty frame has gone back to its owner now,so I can concentrate on finishing my Serow/TY project.(And all the other old bangers....)
