Kyle Middleton's Biggest & Most Successful Season Yet

Post by Neo »

Go Kyle!!!

My prediction....2013 is gonna be your year for "No.1"......and you'll be riding with Bou by 2015.

Oh and next time you're missing a minder let a few people in Aus know (on TA) ... I think you'd be surprised at how many people would jump at the opportunity of being your minder mate,

Best of balance.

G'day Neo,

Thanks for the confidence in me! I've got plenty of work ahead of me next year but I'm pretty excited about it.

Thanks for the tip too, Yeah next time I'm looking for a minder I'll be sure to give it a mention on here. There are a few issues with taking minders from Aus however, the first one is that it costs me about $1,300 every year to have my dad licenced to be my minder in FIM events, next year I will be adding another $1,300 or so to have one of my friends who has said he will help at a couple of events. It also costs me for my licence $1,600 a year, so as you can see, even if the minder pays for their flights it still means a large sum of money i've got to pull from somewhere (you know where I mean..) to have them mind for me & thats before bike hire, accomodation and all the other things. The other main problem is that they need to be very experienced riders to get around the loop in a european event.

If you see what I mean, its not cheap (or easy) to even ride a round here in Australia far less one in Europe so this is why there aren't many Aussies having a go over there. Unfortunately I just cant afford to have a minder at every event. It would be nice if the FIM realised that too and changed the rules to deal with real problems in the sport & not do the opposite of what we need

Thanks again for the support & suggestion Neo,

Kyle.

Hi Kyle,

$1,300 for minders licence  .... they have to be kidding, that's daylight robbery .... How do the FIM justify that number (apart from profit)?
It also goes against safer riding practises so I really think the FIM should be ashamed of themselves for charging that kind of money for a minder.
Any ideas who we can write to about this?.... and maybe even get an online petition going?

Either way don't forget to post up your need for a minder on TA and TC too.... Assuming a minders licence can be used to assist any rider(?).... there's bound to be someone around who can help you.

BTW... are your riding skills highly contagious!!! .... if so count me in, regardless of the dollars

Very best of balance in 2013 Kyle.

G'day Neo,

Well the biggest part of the cost is actually the insurance required. This is $1200 worth. The rest is probably split up between MA & FIM at a guess, so it's not the actual license but the insurance you need to get it that is the problem. Apparently a minder is at the same risk as a rider. But if you would like to email MA or FIM feel free because regardless of who gets the money the end result is the same, just too expensive to compete! I should also mention that you can get a one off license if you intend to just ride one event but it is still horrendously expensive so if you want to ride in multiple events the yearly one works out better.

Yep if you have the " FIM trial Assistant" license you can be a minder for anyone which is great but people who have them are obviously few & far between.

Haha well your right about the contagious bit, if you ride with people who are better than you, it rubs off! One of my big motivations to keep going back!

Cheers,

Kyle.
