Just fitted a shark fin to my TY175, made from 4mm Poly-Carbonate.

It does look very pretty, but then so does the rest of the bike. I was going to suggest that your use of transparent polycarbonate might look dirty really easily, but then I noticed the aparent lack of dirt elsewhere on your machine. (I used a bit of old multicoloured biscuit tin lid on mine and you can't tell how much dirt is on it.)
You don't do that strange and unnatural ritual do you? I think its called .... washing it, or something like that.
edit: Just an afterthought... I have found that if I let any dirt go dry and hard and then throw the bike off the trailer violently then most of the heavy bits of dirt crack off by themself.

So all that crud was holding the foot peg on then?

This is Mark K's footpeg, just after the dirt that was holding the footpeg in place "cracked off"

Well you don't expect a flimsy piece of steel to hold all my weight without being braced by at least a bit of dirt do you?

Unlike Tim's which is likely to attract inquisitive fingers and other projecting body parts at least mine is so repulsive that no bits of body are likely to be anywhere near it, and isn't that the aim of such safety measures?
After further thought I've realised that my footpegs are pretty ugly too, but I still keep my feet pretty near them, (unless I'm in the middle off footing, or falling off).
