I am in the process of removing the oil injection from my ADR'd '86 ty250s.

3) Yes just block the nipple with something. Unless you want to wreck the pump you should take it off too. To do that a small cover plate is needed to seal the hole where the oil pump body goes through the clutch cover, and the clutch cover needs to be off the motor to get the pump off it.

On my model, pump seems to be external, mating with a slotted drive through the hole, under the clutch cover. Point being, I've got the pump off and havent removed the clutch cover. Have I missed something or has it changed?

Any Idea on how to get a cover plate for that hole? Is there a substitute or workaround?

Maybe a dumb question, but have you asked at your local Yamaha dealer? Earlier this year I was told that they still had those cover plates, and the matching gasket to suit my 1975 TY175 in stock. I don't know that it would necessarily be identical to yours, but it would have to be a good place to start to ask.

I never suspected Yamaha would have the part seeing it only applies to autolube models, and I couldnt see them sanctioning the pumps removal. Live & learn.
I suspect a '75 ty175 cover plate will do just nicely, thank you very much. I'll check it out with a Yammie dealer ASAP.
I am just about reconciled to fabricating one for myself.

For those of you just hanging to find out, I made up my own cover plate.
Scrap of 3mm aluminium flat bar.
Drilled 2 30mm centre to centre apart, 5mm screw holes.
Cut roughly to size with hacksaw, "finessed" with file.
Fixed with Permatex gasket maker.

All is good.
